EN] Through the windows of street gallery De Spelonk you can see This Machine, an installation by visual artist and filmmaker Bob Demper (1991). The place looks like a data center where servers make automated decisions in milliseconds. They are so complex and abstract that no one fully understands them anymore. This Machine is a space where meaning is not fixed, but flickers.

Bob Demper makes hyperrealistic scenery and alienating installations, such as offices and living rooms. They look like film sets and that is no coincidence. Since 2019, he has been working on a film about antihero Donny, a jaded employee in the financial sector in New York City. This Machine introduces a new character for the first time: Donna.
